 Churchill, Manitoba the Polar Bear Capitol of the World is the only human settlement where polar Bears can be observed in the wild. The best viewing time is mid-October to mid-November. This is when the migrating bears make their way to the Hudson Bay and wait until the bay freezes, allowing them to continue their migration onto the ice-pack.

November 14 – Arrive Winnipeg

Arrive in Winnipeg.  Your day is at leisure until tonight’s orientation dinner.

Overnight – Fort Garry Hotel

November 15 - Fly from Winnipeg to Churchill

Fly to Churchill this morning.  Tonight you head out to the tundra for a special evening viewing of the bears.

November 16 & 17 - Churchill

These are full days on the Tundra, and it’s all about the bears!  These bears tip the scales at over 1300 pounds and stand 10 feet tall.  They can smell a seal from 20 miles away.  Thanks to the tundra vehicles, you can be within a few feet of a bear and be completely safe and secure.  While no one can predict when and where a bear will appear, you would think that anything that can smell a seal from 20 miles away would find a tundra vehicle full of people pretty interesting.  In the evenings, you meet with your group for dinner, followed by presentations on wildlife and local cultures.

November 18 – Fly from Churchill to Winnipeg

Your return flight is scheduled to depart mid to late afternoon, to offer as much time as possible to explore Churchill.  Pick up last minute souvenirs or native handcrafts!  You can also book an optional dog sled excursion or helicopter journey. 

Overnight – Fort Garry Hotel

November 19 – Winnipeg home

You have joined a small group of elite travelers who have been to Churchill to see the polar bears.  Treasure the experience!   After breakfast, a transfer has been provided to the airport for your flight home.  Thank you for choosing Cartan Tours!
