Day 2 – WHISTLER

The village of Whistler is a delightful mountain resort.  There is so much to see and enjoy, all within an enchanting, alpine setting.  Whistler is home to many shops and restaurants, and golfers can choose to play on three different courses.  We have you confirmed for a short nature walk today.

Day 3 – WHISTLER/VANCOUVER WHISTLER MOUNTAINEER (L)

Your morning is at leisure.  You will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the rail station, where you will board the Whistler Mountaineer for your incredible journey back to Vancouver.  We have confirmed you in “Glacier Dome” class.  These cars were specifically built so that you have a panoramic view regardless of where you are seated.  You also have access to the open observation car where you can take unobstructed photos.  As you travel past rivers, waterfalls, and mountains, a delicious lunch will be served.

Some of the highlights of your rail tour are:  Black Tusk - A prominent mountain peek formed by an old volcano; Tantalus Mountains- Jagged snow-capped peaks rising above the rails; Shannon Falls –a spectacular waterfall cascading 1,000ft down a mountainside; Cheakamus Canyon - You will ride across the trestle above the raging river; Howe Sound - A scenic ocean inlet along the railroad tracks; Coast Mountains-forested mountain peaks rising from the ocean.

Upon arrival into North Vancouver, you will be transferred to your hotel in downtown Vancouver - The Fairmont Waterfront.  Here, you will have everything right at your doorstep - shopping, restaurants, entertainment and sightseeing.  Gastown is just steps away from your hotel, where you will find restaurants that suit every taste and budget.

Day 4 - VANCOUVER

There is so much to see and do in Vancouver.  We have included a hop on/off city tour that allows you to decide what to see and do, and how much time you want to spend at each stop.  The continuous-loop tour takes approximately 2 hours and makes 23 stops.

Day 5 - VANCOUVER

Your hop on/off pass is good today too, or you may choose to explore some of Vancouver’s many other sights that are not on the hop on/off tour such as: Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain, or Granville Island. Enjoy!

Day 6 – VANCOUVER/VICTORIA

It’s an early morning today, but well worth it.  There are a few choices of transportation from Vancouver to Victoria. We have chosen the best!  Board the “Ocean Magic” for your 4 hour sightseeing journey to Victoria.  Complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, donuts and muffins are provided.  The chance of seeing whales and other marine mammals is better than 90%!  Upon arrival into Victoria, the beautiful Fairmont Empress is just steps away.  The Empress is centrally located overlooking the harbor and close to the Houses of Parliament.  At night the Parliament buildings are etched in lights and the entire harbour area is simply enchanting.

Overnight – Fairmont Empress

Day 7 – VICTORIA & BUTCHART GARDENS

No visit to Victoria would be complete without seeing Butchart Gardens. The gardens have been dazzling visitors since 1904, and boast 50 acres of flora and fauna.  Following your Butchart Gardens tour, your afternoon and evening are at leisure.

Overnight- Fairmont Empress

Day 8 – VICTORIA/NANAIMO

One of the best ways to see Vancouver Island’s beautiful coastline is by train.  This morning we have arranged for you to take the train from Victoria to Nanaimo.  The train travels along the coast, showing off Vancouver Island’s lovely seascapes, passing through charming little towns along the way.  We have reserved your ticket to Nanaimo.

You will have time to walk around the city prior to your seaplane departure to Vancouver.  Check your luggage with Harbour Air first, and the next 4 hours you are free to explore Nanaimo.  One suggestion is to have lunch on Protection Island at the Dinghy Dock Marine Pub and Bistro.  A small, enclosed boat takes you there and back.  Lovely views of Nanaimo and delicious seafood are the charm of this unique restaurant.  Here’s an important note:  Try a delicious and famous Nanaimo Bar!  A mid-afternoon flight on Harbour Air’s seaplane will take you back to Vancouver.  It takes about 30 minutes and it is an awesome experience.  You will land at the sea terminal near the international airport and be transferred to the main terminal where the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel is located.  This is a magnificent airport hotel!
